With the afore questions and their answers searched for by the sciences, a few other questions cross our minds too.
The mass-energy equivalence equation of Einstein, E = mc 2, forming the base for the very existence of the universe, explains the formation of mass from the energy. The sciences are very concerned about the effects of mass on time and/or time on mass. Mass, being a tangible physical entity, it is easy for anyone to study it. But, what about the intangible entity called the energy?
The universe we see now is not just filled with matter, but also energy. We perceive energy in different forms. We feel the presence of energy within our own physical bodies. Why do natural sciences undermine energy in its equations? Merely calculating the energy released during reactions that happen across the universe is not enough. What of the energy that is inherent everywhere, except inside the mass (es)?
Science, which understands the effect of energy, i.e. mass, has left out the very entity that makes up the mass. Assuming every process can be quantified as a set of equations and forming a theory is the idea behind formulating a grand theory of everything. By ignoring the effects of energy in its pure state, arenโt the scientists missing out an integral part of the equations?
On the other hand, the question of what is โlifeโ and what defines โconsciousnessโ has also been left out by the scientists. It is natural, of course, since like energy, the concepts of โmindโ, โconsciousnessโ and more importantly, the โsoulโ, are intangible. They canโt be observed and quantified, but only be felt.
Any theory which doesnโt explain the working of โlifeโ canโt be accepted as a theory of everything, simply because of the fact that it leaves out the very components formulating it in the first place! Merely confining the life forms as โconsciousnessโ in the equation isnโt enough, nor is stating that life, as a process, evolves naturally, similar to the forces that control the universe. What is then needed is an in-depth understanding of what constitutes โlife.โ
It might take a long time for sciences to answer these questions, but now, for us, there are other ways to search for the answers!
So saying, letโs step forward into the realm of knowledge that best suits the purpose of our search, the field of knowledge that can answer the questions of energy, life and consciousness in the most adept way possible, spirituality.
